Gender Wayang Pemarwan - Mahabharata

This is WF MU post #2. I stuck on this show one Sunday morning (thankfully it's on at 11am GMT) and was treated to half an hour of amazing Balinese gamelan music. It was really easy for me to get swept up into the beautiful sounds. This particular ensemble is only four musicians strong, but you wouldn't believe it on first listen. There are so many overlapping parts all perfectly in sync, changing pace and mood on a sixpence. Most of the time each person is playing a basic melody with their left hand and the interlocking parts with their right hand. I had trouble playing two different things at once on the piano so to me that fact alone is really impressive. Not that you need to know any of this stuff to appreciate the music. It speaks for itself. Sings for itself? Whatever. The way it's recorded means the notes seem to dance between the speakers too.
I listen to the 'Airborne Event' show every week now and hear at least one piece of fantastic music I would never have heard otherwise. Like I said in the previous post WFMU are entirely listener-funded so use the donation box to the right if you like em.
